CPG industry watchers have fretted over the potential impact of SNAP reform for months – and now they have some numbers to back them up. 

According to a recent survey, retailers will need to collectively spend over $1.6 billion in upfront costs to be in compliance with proposed limitations on the types of food and beverage items eligible for purchase via SNAP. To put that in perspective, that’s about 1.9% of 2024 net income for all food retailers.
