Before there was fiber-maxxing or snack-sized bags of pretzels packing 30 grams of protein, there was collagen.

To be fair, collagen never left us, but it has been overshadowed in recent years by other trends.

At Expo West last week, the healthy skin, nail and hair protein reasserted itself. Similar to creatine, collagen is still prevalent as a powdered supplement, but it's finding a place as a value-add, aligning itself with broader trends in protein, gut-health and low-sugar offerings.
