That’s what Sorosh Tavakoli, co-founder and CEO of plant-based cheese startup Stockeld Dreamery, told me this week about his decision to close down the company this month.

Over the course of six years in business, the Swedish startup raised over $20 million in venture capital and most recently secured a spot in NYC area Whole Foods stores, but Tavakoli said even that validation was not enough to justify keeping the doors open.
