The Nosh team embarks for the Big Apple this weekend. As we make our way to The Summer Fancy Food Show, our plates inboxes are already bursting with flavor-packed fare. From new category brand extensions, to celebrity chef-backed innovations as well as the race into retail for better-for-you, authenticity-driven emerging brands, there is sure to be no shortage of news to gather. Here’s just a sample of what we’re on the lookout for at the show… New Seasons: Century-old sardine slinger Season Brand is using the show to exhibit an extension into a distinctly greasy new space: olive oil. The lineup includes 10× Hydroxytyrosol Finishing Oil, Season Desert Olive Tree Pearls and Season Premium Organic Cooking Oil all positioned around its exclusive use of Moroccan olives. Martha-maxxing: Turpone Foods is growing its Martha Stewart-branded grocery portfolio, which debuted in Canada earlier this year. Its inaugural lineup included oils, sauces, spices, honey drizzles and pizza dough mix, and now the brand is going deeper-dish. “Artisan-quality pizzas and Roman-style pinsas” are on the menu for the brand’s expansion into the frozen category, set to make their public debut at the show. Farming Fans: Hoboken Farms has erupted this year after a $4 million investment helped push the brand wider into mainstream retail. As the NYC-area brand plays on home turf, and heads into a show known for both sauces and innovative flavors, it has a retail roster proving it can play beyond the farmer’s market after adding more than 900 doors this month alone. From The Celeb Chef Sphere: It wouldn’t be a Fancy Food Show without a handful of celebrity chef appearances (and new brand debuts!). This year, restaurateur and television personality Marcus Samuelsson will use the show to debut his new line of globally-inspired simmer sauces under the Merkato by Marcus brand.
