BuzzBallz’ dollar sales increased 65.6%, to more than $569.3 million, in Circana-tracked off-premise retailers in the L52W (ending April 19). The brand gained 3.24 share points in the period, holding 20.78% of premixed cocktail dollar sales. A nearly $257 million gap exists between BuzzBallz and its nearest premixed cocktail competitor. Much to the frustration of its producers, the adoption of NA wine is taking a similar pace. Long dominated by sparkling varieties, still varieties of NA wine are populating the category as mainstream wine brands enter the set, with an ability to scale and open the door to a broader addressable market with less expensive options. | | 📊 Data Dive | | | | Leapfrogging was the theme across bev-alc last week, as several upstarts jumped over their stalwart peers in dollar sales, according to the latest weekly report from market research firm Circana. In the beer category, Mark Anthony Brands’ White Claw out-earned Molson Coors’ Miller Lite by $218,720. | | 👀 ICYMI | | | | Pabst Brewing Company is discontinuing 175-year-old legacy light beer Schlitz – for the foreseeable future. "Unfortunately, we have seen continued increases in our costs to store and ship certain products and have had to make the tough choice to place Schlitz Premium on hiatus,” Pabst head of brand strategy Zac Nadile said in a statement shared with Brewbound. Pabst acquired the Milwaukee lager brand in 1999 and relaunched it in 2008. Read more |
