Miyoko Schinner confirmed on Monday night she did not win the bid to buy back her namesake brand, Miyoko’s Creamery. In an Instagram post, Schinner said she does not know who the winner is, but added “you can have the product – please just give me back my name.”

In the days since she activated a campaign to regain control of the company she was ousted from three years ago, we spoke with the vegan cheese entrepreneur to learn more about her idea for an “alternative” business model, what she would do differently the second time around and what went wrong in the broadly-declining plant-based cheese category.
