🥛 Danone to Divest Horizon Organic, Wallaby

Danone will divest premium dairy brands Horizon Organic and Wallaby after signing an agreement to sell the businesses to California-based private equity firm Platinum Equity. Danone previously announced in January 2023 it was looking to sell both businesses and exit the organic dairy category in the U.S.

  • Horizon Organic, which was founded in 1991, was acquired by Danone in 2016 as part of its $12.5 billion purchase of WhiteWave Foods. 
  • The decision is a part of Danone’s ongoing portfolio review and asset rotation program, which began in March 2022.
  • Platinum Equity manages a portfolio of assets collectively worth over $47 billion, including food businesses like European biscuits maker Biscuit International and seafood provider Iberconsa.

💰 Mezcla Closes $4M Series A Round

Mezcla has raised $4 million in a round led by Dream Ventures and Santatera Capital. Dream Ventures founder and CEO Richard Blankenship and Santatera Capital managing partner Alejandro Gonzalez have joined Mezcla’s board as part of the deal.

🥶 Feel Good Foods Rebrands To “Unlock” Growth

Over the course of decade-old Feel Good Foods’ journey through the gluten-free frozen food category, the brand has launched 26 products and found shelf space in over 17,000 doors nationwide. Now it has unveiled a new look and expanded innovation to continue tapping new consumers.

🆕 As it eyes growth in club and conventional stores, Feel Good Foods revamped its packaging to highlight its yellow and purple color scheme with a bolder design and larger fonts.

🥟 The brand has started the year with a larger pack (18 oz.) for its hero potstickers product and made its first foray into burritos with five varieties. Soon it will release soup dumplings too.

🛒 Co-founder and CEO Vanessa Philips hopes to grow the brand in club stores with the larger formats and new products.
