📝 Brewbound Headlines |
| | | Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling Friday to strike down President Donald Trump’s implementation of tariffs on imported goods, the president said he would invoke an additional 10% global tariff and bumped that figure up to 15% on Saturday. Friday’s ruling does not provide the bev-alc industry relief from the Section 232 tariffs on imported aluminum and steel, which were imposed in 2018 and remain in effect. Speaking to Brewbound, Brewers Association president and CEO Bart Watson said BA members still expect to face “a high cost of goods environment.” Keep reading |

| | | Sparkling water fans are bracing themselves for a prolonged drought after The Coca-Cola Company confirmed that Topo Chico mineral water is temporarily unavailable in the U.S. due to production issues at the source in Monterrey, Mexico. Production has been halted due to “challenges in source wells” and “quality issues,” and the flagship glass bottled mineral water likely won’t be back in stock until Q3, per the letter. Read more |

📜 Legislative Updates |
| | | New York may allow licensed alcohol retailers to sell THC-infused drinks if a new measure introduced in the state Legislature last week gains passage. The proposal would create a tax and regulation architecture for cannabis drinks with up to 5mg THC per container, operating under the joint authority of state alcohol and cannabis regulators. ⏮️ Last Week in Beer |
| | While there may be 3 kinds of medals on the podiums at the Winter Olympics, it seems there’s only … 1 beer brand for sale in the main arena over in Cortina, Italy. Olympic official beer sponsor A-B InBev sold simply Corona Extra, or Corona Cero if you want an NA option, to patrons at the games this month – although we spotted plenty of Michelob Ultras in the U.S. Men’s Hockey locker room after they won gold (wonder where their secret stash was). In Saturday’s Insider’s Week in Beer newsletter, Sean McNulty dove into the price point for the limited beer options, as well as other bev-alc news from the week (both legit headlines and some goofy ones). 👀 ICYMI |
| | | The Brewers Association (BA) slashed nearly every line in its 2025 expenses, but the cuts were still not enough to offset declining revenue, according to the trade group’s annual report. Total revenue declined 24.63% YoY, to more than $16.8 million. Total expenses declined 22.44% YoY, to nearly $18.9 million, marking the 2nd consecutive year the BA’s operational net was negative. A BA spokesperson told Brewbound: “These decisions are about ensuring we remain responsive, efficient and focused on what matters most to today’s craft brewers. We believe this proactive approach sets us up not just to adapt, but to emerge stronger in the years ahead.” Dive into more financial data here |
