In what appears to be a major blow for parent company Abbott Laboratories, Pedialyte not only was handed a defeat in a lawsuit against competing brand Revitlayte, but its trade dress may not be protectable, a district judge has ruled.

The April ruling in the U.S. District Court District of Minnesota stems from a 2023 lawsuit filed by Abbott, makers of the advanced hydration drink, against Revitalyte.
